The movie deals with age old Indian social practice of dowry.
Memdidi (Lalita Pawar) made a promise to dying parents of Rita (Tanuja) to take care of her and give her a life full of comforts and good education.

She sent her to Shimla for education where she (Tanuja) felt in love with Dilip (Kaysi), whose father is a greedy, virtual shylo.
Neighbours Bahadur and Sherkhan of memdidi are very fond of her and want to help her in fulfilling her given promise come true. They pose as millionares ans impress father of Kaysis to the point of marriage.

But at the time of marriage ceremony memdidi finds out the plot of cheating and expels the gospel truth. Dilips father rushes for police, but then Bahadur and Shehrkhan...
